Boat stop: Murano Museo. Galleria Regina Art Glass
The name of the Gallery represents a precise choice:
glass at the service of art.
Art that searches and researches new expressive ways in this extremely ancient and challenging material, glass; we are talking of new ways because they are not yet expressed, not yet seen, a challenge to the matter.
When one is talking with
Franco Regina, the Gallery Director, he has the impression of finding himself among people who are really fond of glass and of the art pieces realised with it.
The choices made to enrich and clarify the project of the Gallery activity, are courageous, stimulating and curious. They consist in the cooperation of
two different categories of artists:
glass artists, who realise the pieces personally, and other artists who, coming from a different background, assign the realisation of their works to a team of glass artists.
At Galleria Regina you will find not only pieces of contemporary artists such as
Riccardo Licata,
Vittorio Ferro or
Mario Seguso. One can see also works of younger artists, still precious and extremely creative, such as
Miriam Di Fiore, who, by means of very risky and complex techniques, creates magical pictures of wood landscapes in glass.
There is also
Lucio Bubacco, the designer of works where mythology, eroticism and joy mix to form audacious and harmonic glass architectures.
The excellent technical knowledge of the artist takes the observer back in time, when the art pieces were expressions of inspiration and imagination.
We find this taste and creativity even in the frescos and glass works of
Raffaele Rossi, which are able to lead us between spirituality and alchemy to the places of metamorphosis, where sensations become so real that they eventually develop into matter.
The web site presents some of the artists and their works, which are usually exhibited at Galleria Regina in Murano. The works of young artists such as
Paola Scibilia,
Norberto Moretti,
Alberto Gambale,
Stefano Toso and others occupy a special place.
